I love storytelling
As a child I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. Now that I'm a composer I still love the way story, visual and music complement each other and can work together. Several composers that inspired me are: Hildur Gudnaddotir, Johan Johansson, Olafur Arnalds and Ludwig Goransson. I love their unique blend of classical and electronic music as well as their pioneering work in sound design.

One And Done
2025

A comedian is diagnosed with Huntington's disease and plays his last show.
Director Preston, was looking for a feeling of sadness, inspiration and "future" for the final climax of his film. For this project I used live cello, violin and synthesizers to create a sense of both hope, forwardness and melancholy.
Something In Between

A mourning brother transfers to another dimension where his brother is the one mourning for him.
Herman wanted this idea of different dimensions translated to sound. I used digital software turn piano sounds into soundscapes, then I added warped vocals to give a sense of loss and intimacy.
Verloren

Verloren is an animation short, about a girl lost in a storm. As she learns to control her emotions she manages to find her way out of the storm.
Evie was looking for an ambient sound that also included a sense of loss and being lost. I used ambient drone sounds in combination with stretched out live violin players to give this film a sense of vulnarability. The violins were recorded in a chapell.
Dimiterre

A conversation between Death and the daughter of a dying father. The girl has to let her father go to accept her loss.
Jason was looking for a mix between drama and thriller. I wrote this music with a real cello, using scratching effects, as well as advanced sound design to give Death an otherworldy vibe.
DESIRE

This work was written as part of my film scoring course at the FSAE
A cheating man and woman really go for each other.
I wanted to create a feeling of melancholy (they are cheating), intimicay and the raw energy of primal sexual instincts. The string orchestra creates a feeling of sadness, while the Hiphop inspired beats give a feeling of raw power and primal instinct.
Bloody Tradition

Documentary about whale and dolphin hunting on the Faraoë Islands. Music nominated for Rome Prisma Award.
Martijn and Jitse came to me with a request: can you write music expresses the beauty of nature and the horror of whale hunting? For this project I wrote with traditional orchestral instruments to create the sense of beauty and awe for nature, as well as the ugliness of whale hunting, which sometimes borders on horror.
